Hello Kitty Fashion

I have a confession.

I’m a closet Hello Kitty fan.

There, I said it.

Frankly though, I think there’s a lot more than meets the eye to this iconic feline who favors glitzy bows and blingy baubles to a blasé ball of yarn. For starters, the cat’s got style.  And swagger. With just the right amount of cartoon sass.

Although predominately targeted to toddlers and tweens, Ms. Kitty and her crew have recently jumped mainstream and even rubbed shoulders (or maybe that’s paws?) with some of the big guns of fashion including, icons like Gaga, retailers like Forever 21 and designers including Kimora Lee Simmons.

Last week, I was thrilled to stumble across an adorable pair of Hello Kitty flats, made almost entirely of recycled cans and bottles.  Helping the environment and reducing waste in landfills, who knew Miss Kitty was moonlighting as a philanthropista too? ($24.99 Amazon.com)
