California Chic

The best part of summer is indulging in nature’s bounty – sun, surf and soft-sugar beaches, to name a few. I simply adore the modest and graphic-style bathing suit options from Lime Ricki, a retro, Cali-chic, swimwear collection that epitomizes summer “indulgence” and hits right on target with my philanthropic style.

Day 8 of 30 Days/30 Ways: END CHILD HUNGER – BAKE A DIFFERENCE

Fact:  Hunger is a reality in America, nearly 17 million American children don’t always get enough food to eat.  Want to know how you can change this?  Easy as pie…
Today’s Action – BAKE A DIFFERENCE

It’s hard to say no to a cookie. Or a slice of cake. It’s especially hard to turn it down when that treat was baked for a good cause.

Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale (greatamericanbakesale.org) is a national initiative in which participants hold individual bake sales and and donate proceeds to their local food banks and anti-hunger initiatives.  It’s easy and fun and all of the money you raise goes toward those who need it.  The Great American Bake Sale runs from March to October this year, so get out the cookbook and start planning! Go to gabs.strength.org to register.

ConAgra Foods is also encouraging everyday people to turn a bake sale, pancake breakfast, or dinner party into a rally to fight against child hunger in America! The Child Hunger Ends Here website provides toolkits for planning special events and getting neighbors involved.

Have some fun baking with the kids and not only will they be shaping their own idea of what it means to do good, you’ll all be creating awareness and helping educate the community about an issue that is often ignored: childhood hunger in America.
